Ensembles
There are many opportunities for band students at CMS. Here is what is offered at CMS this year.
Concert Band
Comprised of mostly 6th Graders and rehearses everyday during Comet Time. Concert Band performs two concerts and attends one festival during the school year.
Wind Ensemble
Comprised of 6th, 7th and 8th Graders by audition only. This group rehearses every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday during Comet Time. Wind Ensemble will also rehearse some mornings at 7:25am during the festival and concert season. Mr. Smith will alert students as to when the early morning rehearsals will occur. Wind Ensemble performs two concerts and attends multiple festivals during the school year.
Jazz Band
Participants are selected by audition only. Auditions are held early in the school year. Once auditions are held the Jazz Band will rehearse twice a week before school starting at 7:25am. The Jazz Band performs one concert and attends two festivals during the school year.
Symphonic Full Orchestra
This group has a combination of band and orchestra students. Participants are selected by audition only. Auditions are held in January. Once auditions are held the Symphonic Full Orchestra will rehearse one day a week before school starting at 7:25am. Mrs. Szawan is the Orchestra Director.
