The Carson Middle School "Royal Blue" Jazz Band began in 2012 as an after school club.  The band immediately grew in popularity and gained notoriety for their clean sound and excellent sense of style.  Jazz Band performs at many events throughout the year, including Carson City's Jazz Extravaganza, the Jazz in the Schools workshop at UNR, and local concerts and festivals, including the Reno Jazz Festival.

In the 2016-2017 school year, the Jazz Band became a "0" period class, meeting each morning at 7:00 AM.  With this new distinction as an academic class, Carson Middle School's Jazz Band has become a powerhouse ensemble that has earned top ratings at area festivals.
